#FFFFFF">Wichita Park Board Considers Bicycling in Pawnee Prairie Park
#FFFFFF">The following notice went out from the City of Wichita's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board:#FFFFFF">http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render…
#FFFFFF">The 2nd items states: "The Wichita Park Board's February 8, 2016 agenda includes an item to consider whether bicycling should be allowed in Pawnee Prairie Park."
#FFFFFF">KSS has not been contacted by any agency at this time regarding this proposal nor are we the originating organization regarding the agenda item. Unofficial communication seems to suggest that this is not regarding building singletrack in the park but to allow kids and other family recreational users access to the existing trails.
#FFFFFF">KSS has a good history of trail runners and cyclists sharing all our trails and look for more partnership opportunities. Horses and cyclist share the Prairie Sunset Trail without issue but this trail is runs straight with excellent sight lines. That said, we do not feel equestrian and mountain bike traffic belong on the same trails at Pawnee Prairie Park. Safety of all trail users is a priority for us.
#FFFFFF">KSS is extremely pleased with our current relationship with the City of Wichita in regards to Air Capitol Mountain Bike Park. We have not received nor initiated any dialog regarding trail expansion into Pawnee Prairie Park.
#FFFFFF">While all area cyclists can attend the meeting as a show of support, we want to remind everyone that only club officers can speak on behalf of the entire membership. All trail users deserve our respect as fellow outdoor enthusiasts, citizens, and fellow human beings.
#FFFFFF">KSS will be sending out an official statement this weekend outlining our position on this subject. All comments can be directed to:
